Gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way
The best way to appreciate the magnificence of the Old Head of Kinsale is from the air. On your Gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way Air Experience flight, you will have the best view of this narrow headland bordered by steep cliffs and a lighthouse which is located on its most southerly point. This is a truly unique chance to get a birds-eye view of the world-famous Old Head Golf Links. Your flight will take you over the harbour town of Kinsale, the start/end point of the Wild Atlantic Way, Courtmacsherry a small village surrounded by several beautiful beaches, and fly over Clonakilty, Bandon taking in the best views of the world famous Inchydoney beach.

Cork Harbour, the second largest natural harbour in the world, an international gateway for trade, a site of strategic military importance for centuries, supporting industry and recreational activities is our destination for this flight. You will have the best vista from the air to take in the harbour steeped in history and its many islands including Great Island, Fota Island, Little Island, Haulbowline island, Spike Island and Rocky Island. The architecture of Cobh Cathedral, Ireland’s largest church and many of the visiting cruise liners can truly be appreciated from the air. Fly over the star shaped Fort Mitchell on Spike Island along with the impressive Camden Fort Meagher and Fort Davis Carlisle both built to defend Cork Harbour, and onwards to Roches point lighthouse at the entrance to Cork harbour. You may also have the opportunity to see Blarney Castle from above, home of the Stone of Eloquence, better known as the Blarney Stone and view the extensive gardens before returning to our base.

The world-renowned Lee Valley is one of the most beautiful landscapes that Ireland has to offer. Our destination is the source of the River Lee in the Shehy mountains. In this wild and beautiful scenery of Gougane Barra, the Lee flows from the lake of Gougane Barra and St. Finbarr the patron saint of Cork first founded his early Christian monastery in the 6th century. The legend says that he left to walk the river valley, at the mouth of which he established a monastery, which is now the site of St Finbarr’s Cathedral in Cork City. This route is steeped in Cork history and you will pass over Béal na Bláth, the site of the ambush and death of the Irish revolutionary leader Michael Collins in 1922. You will track the river Lee as it meanders into the Inniscarra Lake, a man-made reservoir formed in the 1950s and on to Macroom and the Gearagh,a submerged glacial woodland and nature reserve, where the river Lee descends from the mountains. Time permitting you may fly over Cork city, where the Lee splits in two for a short distance, creating an island on which Cork’s city centre is built before it empties into the Celtic Sea.

Skellig Islands Star Wars Tour

A UNESCO world heritage site and one of the most remote monastic settlements in Europe is the destination for this flight, known as the star of the Wild Atlantic Way. Skellig Michael and Little Skellig are world famous. Skellig Michael was selected as the filming location for Luke Skywalker’s Island Sanctuary on the planet Ahch, for Star Wars episode Vll: The Force Awakens and Star Wars Episode Vlll: The Last Jedi. It was awarded UNESCO status as an outstanding example, of a preserved early Medieval monastic settlement. The journey to and back from the Skelligs is just as impressive as your final destination.
