Aircraft Avionics Technician
Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) are currently seeking an experienced Aircraft Avionics Technician to join our maintenance team, supporting a varied fleet of light aircraft in a dynamic and professional aviation environment. This is a hands-on technician role working across aircraft including: Diamond DA40 NG, Diamond DA42 NG & TDI, Cessna 172 G1000 & G1000 TDI, Slingsby T67 and Vulcanair P68C.
AFTA operate this fleet of aircraft training domestic and international cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines and using the Vulcanair P68C aircraft to support our aerial survey division.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and testing of avionics and electrical systems, ensuring aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of safety and compliance.
The ideal candidate will be a driven individual, with a keen interest in aviation and experience with aircraft avionics.
Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, fault finding, and rectification of avionics and electrical systems.
- Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft avionics systems.
- Inspect, test, repair, and replace avionics components including:
- Communication and navigation systems
- Transponders and ADS-B systems
- Flight instrumentation
- Autopilot systems
- Electrical wiring and distribution systems
- Install and modify avionics equipment in accordance with approved data.
- Use appropriate test equipment to diagnose faults accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with applicable regulatory and safety standards.
- Complete accurate maintenance documentation and records.
- Support defect investigations and liaise with engineering management as required.
Successful candidate requirements
- Proven experience working as an Aircraft Avionics Technician. While the candidate does not have to have any formal qualifications in aircraft avionics previous experience is essential.
- Practical experience in aircraft electrical and avionics systems maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- While not essential, it is highly desirable to have experience working on light aircraft and specifically experience on Diamond DA40 NG, Diamond DA42 NG & TDI, Cessna 172 G1000 & G1000 TDI, Slingsby T67 or Vulcanair P68C aircraft types.
- Experience with Garmin or similar integrated avionics suites.
- Strong analytical and fault-finding ability.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety.

- Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.

- Ability to hold airport restricted zone access.
- Candidates will ideally have the right to live and work within the EU however we will sponsor an EU work permit for the right candidate.
- Flexibility to complete tasks outside of normal working hours to ensure program deadlines are met. (Aviation is a 365/7 days a week industry and our engineering department works two shifts (early and late) and often works Saturdays when required.)

ME CPL & ME IR Flight Instructor – Unrestricted EASA licence
Description
Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA), Cork, Ireland are recruiting for EASA licenced (unrestricted), full-time multi-engine CRI/IRI flight instructors. The role also includes opportunities to support aerial survey operations, offering variety beyond standard flight instruction.
AFTA operate a large fleet of Cessna 172, Diamond DA42, Vulcanair P68 & Slingsby aircraft training domestic and international cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines and using the Vulcanair P68 aircraft to support our aerial survey division.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Flight, flight simulation and ground tuition – delivering instruction to students and completing the associated paperwork and record keeping.
- Support aerial survey operations as required, including ferry flights, positioning, and survey-specific procedures.
- Monitoring student progress, carrying out student reviews, providing constructive feedback, making sure flying standards are adhered to and being available if an issue arises.
- Ensuring that training is conducted in accordance with the approved syllabi.
- Maintaining a proactive approach to Health & Safety and acting upon any safety information or instructions in relation to flight operations and regulations as advised by the IAA and AFTA Head of Training.
- Ensuring that student welfare and discipline is monitored at all times.
- Having a cheerful, authoritative, skilful manner and leading by example in both dress and behaviour
- Maintaining full and accountable records for AFTA management.
- Ensuring that all company policies, procedures and manuals and statutory regulations are being adhered to.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- EASA licence with a minimum of CPL/MEIR FI (A) IRI & CRI is essential. Must have privileges to teach MEP CPL & MEP IR.
- Minimum number of instructor hours = 500 or more
- Minimum of ICAO English level 5 or 6 required
- Current EASA Medical Certificate
- EU/EEA/UK citizen or valid permit to live and work in Ireland without restriction.
- Knowledge of Aeronautical Legislation, rules (EASA Operations etc.).
- Knowledge of EASA PART-ORA, ATO Manuals, ATPL theory subjects and practice is required along with knowledge of aircraft and the aviation industry.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Flight training management experience is highly desirable
- Other Desirable ratings; Flight Instructor Instructor (FII), Flight Examiner (FE) dual EASA/CAA licence, UPRT Instructor

EASA Part 66 B1.2 Licenced Aircraft Engineer
Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) are currently recruiting for an experienced EASA Part 66 B1.2 licenced aircraft engineer to support our aircraft maintenance department based at Cork Airport, Ireland.
AFTA operate a large fleet of Cessna 172, Diamond DA40, Diamond DA42, Vulcanair P68 & Slingsby aircraft training domestic and international cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines and using the Vulcanair P68 aircraft to support our aerial survey division. The successful candidate will be part of the team that maintains this fleet to carry out routine 100hr, 200hr checks, scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance, annual checks and defect rectification. The licenced engineer will also oversee and certify maintenance work conducted by aircraft mechanics.
• Perform and certify maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks on piston-engine aircraft in accordance with Part-CAO requirements.
• Monitor mechanics and apprentice colleagues and certify their work/tasks as required.
• Complete administrative duties, workpacks, reports and paperwork associated with Part-CAO requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
• Maintain workflow by liaising with the Chief Engineer and Flight Ops as required.
• Provide support to the Chief Engineer to lead the full maintenance team by example.
• Deputise for the Chief Engineer as required.
• Ensure all work is carried out to the highest safety and regulatory standards.
Successful candidate Essential requirements
• Unrestricted EASA Part-66 Category B1.2 Licence.
• Light Aircraft maintenance experience essential, ideally with Diamond DA40 / DA42 and / or Cessna 172 experience
• Ability to hold airport restricted zone access.
• Understanding of EASA and IAA Part ML and Part CAO regulations
• Computer literate, with working knowledge of Microsoft Software Programs
• Fluent English speaker, both spoken and written
• Highly organised and able to prioritise work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong attention to detail in multi-tasking situations and the ability to deliver results to tight timelines.
• Responsible, proactive and flexible approach
