ME CPL & ME IR Flight Instructor – Unrestricted EASA licence
Description
Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA), Cork, Ireland are recruiting for EASA licenced (unrestricted), full-time multi-engine CRI/IRI flight instructors. The role also includes opportunities to support aerial survey operations, offering variety beyond standard flight instruction.
AFTA operate a large fleet of Cessna 172, Diamond DA42, Vulcanair P68 & Slingsby aircraft training domestic and international cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines and using the Vulcanair P68 aircraft to support our aerial survey division.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Flight, flight simulation and ground tuition – delivering instruction to students and completing the associated paperwork and record keeping.
- Support aerial survey operations as required, including ferry flights, positioning, and survey-specific procedures.
- Monitoring student progress, carrying out student reviews, providing constructive feedback, making sure flying standards are adhered to and being available if an issue arises.
- Ensuring that training is conducted in accordance with the approved syllabi.
- Maintaining a proactive approach to Health & Safety and acting upon any safety information or instructions in relation to flight operations and regulations as advised by the IAA and AFTA Head of Training.
- Ensuring that student welfare and discipline is monitored at all times.
- Having a cheerful, authoritative, skilful manner and leading by example in both dress and behaviour
- Maintaining full and accountable records for AFTA management.
- Ensuring that all company policies, procedures and manuals and statutory regulations are being adhered to.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- EASA licence with a minimum of CPL/MEIR FI (A) IRI & CRI is essential. Must have privileges to teach MEP CPL & MEP IR.
- Minimum number of instructor hours = 500 or more
- Minimum of ICAO English level 5 or 6 required
- Current EASA Medical Certificate
- EU/EEA/UK citizen or valid permit to live and work in Ireland without restriction.
- Knowledge of Aeronautical Legislation, rules (EASA Operations etc.).
- Knowledge of EASA PART-ORA, ATO Manuals, ATPL theory subjects and practice is required along with knowledge of aircraft and the aviation industry.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Flight training management experience is highly desirable
- Other Desirable ratings; Flight Instructor Instructor (FII), Flight Examiner (FE) dual EASA/CAA licence, UPRT Instructor

Hybrid Flight Instructor & ATPL Theoretical Knowledge Instructor
Are you passionate about both flight instruction and theoretical knowledge training? Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) is offering a hybrid role where the successful candidate will flex between Flight Instruction and ATPL Theoretical Knowledge Instruction based on company requirements.
This is a unique opportunity to gain diverse experience across both practical and theoretical training, supporting student pilots in their journey from ground school to the cockpit. AFTA trains cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines, including Ryanair, and operates a modern fleet of Cessna 172 and Diamond DA42 aircraft.
We provide our Flight Instructors with a clear and consistent career path as there is room to grow and progress to IRI & CRI positions within AFTA.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Flight Instructor:
- Conduct flight, flight simulation, and ground instruction.
- Monitor student progress, conduct reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure training is conducted in accordance with approved syllabi and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with all AFTA and regulatory policies.
As a Theoretical Knowledge Instructor:
- Deliver ATPL & PPL theoretical instruction across a range of subjects.
- Teach and demonstrate the use of navigation instruments and calculations.
- Support course administration, student assessments, and exam processes.
- Develop and improve training materials and syllabi.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / QUALIFICATIONS:
- EASA CPL/MEIR with a Flight Instructor rating (FI(A)).
- EASA Medical
- Completed EASA ATPL theory (or equivalent).
- ICAO English Level 5 or 6 minimum.
- Strong knowledge of ATPL subjects, aeronautical regulations, and aircraft systems.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- A flexible approach with a student-focused mindset.
- Right to live and work in Ireland (visa sponsorship is not available).
