In an article in the Irish Independent today (27th of January) , CEO of Embrarer John Slattery shared his thoughts on how to encourage more females to consider a career in aviation. ‘ We need to encourage more female kids in primary and secondary school and third level’. ‘We also need to outreach to the parents and say being a pilot is a good progression , for your daughter not just for son’.
In AFTA we have a strong tradition of encouraging more female’s to consider a career in aviation. Following the success of last years Women in Aviation Panel interview, we will be hosting another event on Thursday the 24th of September 2020.
We will also be attending careers fairs and hosting seminars throughout Ireland and the UK , to promote the many benefits of becoming a pilot and how to apply. As mentioned by John Mulligan in his interview ‘, ‘last year Boeing estimated that as many as 800,000 extra pilots will be needed in the next 20 years to cope with the rising number of people using air transport’. Now is the perfect time to learn more.
We would encourage any girl curious to learn more about aviation training to book a one hour flying lesson experience in a light aircraft. In AFTA all of your flight training is carried out in light aircraft and simulators.
We also hold tours for any interested future students to visit the academy , meet our students and instructors and learn more about the training we offer, email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 021 4888 737.
