AFTA Celebrate Girls in Aviation Day

In 2015, WAI (Women in Aviation International) launched Girls in Aviation Day. The day is intended to interest girls, ages 8 to 17, in aviation careers. We are proud of play apart in encouraging young girls to consider a career in aviation by visiting schools, participating in careers days and highlighting the many achievements of our past and present female students.

Pictured above is integrated student Alex Joyce who recently passed her Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) flight test recently. Alex is 19 years of age and joined AFTA after completing her Leaving Cert.

We will be attending the Rochestown Career Options event next Tuesday & Wednesday if any budding female aviators would like a chance to meet her and learn about Alex’s training experience.

At our next seminar in Cork we will hold a Q&A session just for our girls in aviation before our seminar starts so they can meet some of our female students and instructors. Keep an eye on our Facebook page more details to be announced very soon.
