CAA to EASA MEP/CPL and ME/IR Conversions

ICAO to EASA MEP/CPL and ME/IRConversions
Applicants who hold an ICAO licence and/or ratings may now convert these to EASA at the Academy as follows:
Requirements:
- You must hold an EASA Class 1 medical for CPL and EASA Class 2 for PPL
- Complete EASA ATPL theory exams
ICAO & CAA to EASA PPL Conversion
Our PPL conversion process consists of the following training in AFTA and we can help guide you through the entire process.
- Two IAA PPL theoretical exams: Human Performance and Air Law. These exams can be completed an AFTA as an official IAA Exam Centre.
- EASA Class 1 or 2 Medical
- EASA English Language Proficiency Test (ELP). This can also be completed at AFTA.
- Training to requirement followed by a flight test.

ATPL Theory
To hold an EASA CPL or ATPL requires you to sit the EASA ATPL theory exams. This will take 6 months as a full time student or 6-18 months as a distance learner student.
ICAO to EASA Commercial Pilots Licence with Multi-Engine Class Rating Conversion
Conversion of the CPL from ICAO to EASA may be achieved as follows:
- 2 hours on a Diamond DA42 FNPT II simulator
- 2 hour Acclimatisation Ground briefing
- 2 hour Acclimatisation Flight in a Diamond DA42
- 2 hour MEP CPL Skills Test in a Diamond DA42
- Aircraft Rental
*If you do not hold an EASA MEP rating and you have less than 100 hrs flight time on a multi engine piston aircraft you are required to do a full modular Multi-Engine Class Rating.
ICAO to EASA Multi-Engine Instrument Rating Conversion
Conversion of the MEIR from ICAO to EASA may be achieved as follows:
- 6 hours on a Diamond DA42 FNPT II simulator (to include EASA PBN Training)
- 2 hour Acclimatisation Flight in a Diamond DA42
- 2 hours MEP IR Skills Test
*If you do not hold an EASA MEP rating and you have less than 100 hrs flight time on a multi engine piston aircraft you are required to do a full modular multi engine piston class rating.
